As part of Muller UK and Ireland group, Muller Milk and Ingredients is a fresh milk, cream and butter business with a network of dairies servicing customers throughout the country; with rapid and continued organic growth and confirmation of substantial investments in upgrading our network of dairies in Britain, it is an exciting time to join us. With this in mind, we are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Severnside Site to safely deliver cost effective maintenance activities to site assets in line with our annual maintenance plan and situational demands.

 

Our Severnside dairy is one of the most complex sites within our UK business, with not just milk and cream production, but flavoured milks, dried milk powders and butter production capability. You will be responsible for leading a high performing engineering team and delivering performance and service through excellence.

In this role the key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for delivery of maintenance and maximum availability and optimum efficiency of the production plant, equipment, facilities and systems
  • Create and deploy long term plans to deliver optimum maintenance of the production plant, equipment, facilities and systems
  • Full budgetary control of Engineering spend – labour, repairs & maintenance, contracts and projects
  • Drives the people agenda and focusses on progressing succession and talent pipeline.
  • Engage with team and key business group stakeholders to respond effectively recovering site and production facilities in event of equipment failure.
  • Works with key stakeholders and Lean ways of working to deliver Operational Excellence (OPEX)
  • Need to support 24/7 operation and support team in emergency out of hours situations

 

Key skills & experience

  • Demonstrable knowledge of complex fast moving clean environments (24/7 short life products).
  • Proven track record of strong technical competency within high technology, fast moving and complex environment
  • Experience in both general engineering maintenance and project management environments.
  • Experience in developing and implementing continuous improvement programmes.
  • Must possess lean manufacturing experience.
  • Must show evidence of leading culture change in an engineering function, including changes in organisation design and working practices.
  • Capability to develop a high performance and service oriented culture within the team.
  • Strong technical bias and has experience in standardising processes and practices
