We’re recruiting … Cage Supply Operative

 

We are recruiting at our Severnside Dairy for Cage Supply Operatives.

 

The successful candidate will be a team player who is physically fit and likes to work within a team. Your role will be varied from operating high volume automated cage transport machines, loading/unloading lorries, repairing cages and using electric cage transportation trucks. No two days are the same and the time goes very quickly in this challenging yet exciting position.  

 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Be a team player and collectively achieve the daily performance targets.
  • Operate high volume automated machinery.
  • Transport trolleys around site safely from outside areas to inside the factory using battery powered cage trucks. 
  • Repair cages using minor hand tools.
  • Unload lorries using battery operated cage trucks.
  • Create a safe and productive environment in the factory. 
  • Ensure trolleys are machine ready for the production. 
  • Practice a 'Clean As You Go' mentality.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Health & Safety by appropriately and challenging unsafe practices, raising hazards and responding promptly and effectively to all hazards raised by others.
  • Ensure that all relevant Health and Safety practices are adhered to.
  • Work with site teams to deliver improvement projects, activities and events aligned to the company O.G.S.M. (Objectives, Goals Strategies and Measures). 
  • Support any new system, structure or process improvement projects.
  • Help Maintain good 5S workplace organisation and visual management.

 

Shift Patterns

  • 4 on 4 off rota, 7AM-7PM for the first 2 days, then 7PM-7AM for the following 2 days, then 4 days off

 

Key skills & experience

  • Be a team player and be able to work as part of a team
  • Some experience in operating computer controlled machines (not essential but desirable, full training will be provided)
  • Have a can do attitude.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Able to read and follow standard operating procedures in English.
  • Be proactive with a willingness to succeed in all that you do.
  • Be able to work safely and follow safety instructions at all times.
  • Excellent time keeping.
  • Basic Food Hygiene (not essential but desirable, full training will be provided)
