We are currently recruiting for a Tax Advisor/Consultant to join our friendly team based in Market Drayton but within a home working/office environment. We are looking for an experienced individual to support the UK Group with all Employment and Indirect Tax advisory and compliance matters. Assisting and acting as deputy to the Indirect & Employment Tax Manager, providing support, training and guidance to other team members and the wider business, including working closely with the HR, Finance and Payroll functions.


 Key Responsibilities:


  • Advising on all day to day and project related queries.
  • VAT reviews of new products and competitions.
  • Preparation and review of Alcohol Duty reclaims.
  • Review of UK & Irish VAT returns.
  • Support with all Global Mobility issues, including STBV reporting, modified payroll workings & ad hoc queries.
  • Assist with the preparation of and review of all PAYE Settlement Agreements workings & submission to HMRC.
  • Assist with IR35 reviews and Off-Payroll Working queries.
  • Support the business with Termination payments and PENP calculations.
  • Benefits in Kind expenses queries and policy / planning reviews.
  • Supporting with HMRC enquiries & maintaining the relationship with HMRC.
  • Identification of any weaknesses in the business process & planning, providing support and training to up-skill colleagues in other departments to mitigate risk.
  • Conduct internal reviews / health checks to ensure continued Tax compliance.
    Train & develop colleagues & sharing knowledge to create a highly effective Tax Department in all areas of Tax.
  • Support with the Senior Accounting Officer process.
  • Support with the Tax review of contracts.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across the Group, to promote awareness of Tax & to ensure that opportunities & risks are considered at the right time.
  • Develop a network of Tax experts in the broader industry.
  • Assist Senior members of the team with project work & any ad-hoc queries.
  • Keep abreast of all changes in the tax legislation.


Skills and Experience


  • ATT/CTA qualified (PQE 3 years) would be preferred, but candidates with a proven Tax background will be considered
  • Demonstratable high level of technical expertise and experience in UK taxation
  • Be able to prioritise & work to tight deadlines
  • Drive, enthusiasm & ability to achieve goals
  • Flexible, responsive & resourceful when reacting to changing work demands
  • Ability to interact and work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
  • Be able to see tasks in the wider business context
  • Demonstratable leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills - be able to explain technical tax issues through written & verbal communications clearly & succinctly to tax & non-tax professionals
