We’re recruiting … Customs Administrator


Müller UK & Ireland is wholly owned by the Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller which employs over 24,000 people throughout Europe. In the UK, Müller develops, manufactures and markets a wide range of branded and private label dairy products made with milk from more than 1,700 British farmers.

 

We have an excellent opportunity to join Muller at our Market Drayton head office as a Customs Administrator for a fixed term of 15 months. You will help collate data, verify information and liaise with colleagues & third parties for the timely submission of Imports & Exports Customs declarations. You will manage all daily operational and related administrative tasks to allow the Customs Team to provide 7-day week coverage for Customs declarations.

 

Please note that weekly hours are 40, Monday to Friday 7am-3pm/8am-4pm/9am-5pm on a rota basis with the occasional Saturday. Hybrid working (3 days per week on site) will be offered once training has been completed.

 

Key responsibilities for the Customs Administrator will include: -

Customs Compliance - Exports
• Liaise with Culina to combine data on the daily exports and prepare paperwork for the Official Vets to inspect export loads and obtain the relevant Export health Certificates.
• Prepare Export instructions and pro forma invoices for all loads leaving the UK.
• Apply for batch Export Health Certificates to maintain continual supply
• Liaise with Customs Brokers, vets, hauliers and all relevant authorities to ensure all the appropriate documentation for export is correct and completed within a timeline.
• Monitor the busy Exports email inbox, resolve queries or escalate to the Customs Team Leader / Customs Team Manager as appropriate.
• Preparation of samples shipments, communicating with R&D and all departments, booking with fast parcel company and providing relevant paperwork.
• Complete supplementary declarations on the TSS portal for each month within the deadline.
• Support new team members with guidance and training.
• Support senior colleagues with ad hoc tasks and project work as required.

Customs Compliance – Imports
• Collate & review supplier information to prepare import instructions for the Customs Brokers
• Monitor expected deliveries, liaise with the Material Control Team, Procurement & Suppliers to ensure no delays to deliveries.
• Monitor the busy Customs email inbox, resolve queries or escalate to the Customs Adviser as appropriate.
• Provide clearance information to Fast Parcel operators to enable clearance of goods.
• Complete all required paperwork for the re-export of returned / rejected goods.
• Support the Senior Customs Adviser as required with any ad hoc information requests / data collection etc.
• Continuous monitoring of UK Global Tariff and documenting any changes

Other Tasks
• Verify accuracy of purchase invoicing reports from Brokers, add GL codes and GRN accordingly
• Raise Purchase Requisitions and process purchase invoices as required.
• Complete assigned daily WorkFlow tasks to allocate commodity codes to new materials.
• Support new team members with guidance and training
• Complete and maintain documentation of processes for audit purposes

 

Key skills and experience for the Customs Administrator: -
• 1-2 years experience in a Customs environment
• Good working knowledge of Word and Excel
• Job specific training provided.
• Ability to keep up to date with changes to tax legislation
• Hands on attitude with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
• Ability to find information which might be difficult to obtain and to challenge processes.
• Demonstratable drive, enthusiasm and ability to achieve goals
• Flexible, responsive and resourceful when reacting to changing work demands
• Ability to interact and work as part of team as well as on own initiative
• Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
