Müller Yogurt & Desserts which is the UK’s leading yogurt manufacturer which aims to create millions more Müller moments for its consumers. It is responsible for major brands like Müller Corner, Müllerlight, Müller Bliss, Müller Rice, FRijj and Müller Kefir Smoothie and produces chilled desserts under licence from Mondelez International. It also supplies the UK private label yogurt market from a dedicated, state of the art yogurt facility.


We are recruiting for a Food Safety Technical Manager within our Müller Yogurts and Desserts Business. The role will involve UK travel and will be flexible in its base location but preferred to be in the West Midlands. Our chosen candidate will focus on supporting our co-packers and retailer customers, defining technical needs in relation to corporate targets. The role holder will be skilled in managing the lines of communication within the business and critically with key customers/co-packers. They will respond to all quality issues to ensure confidence in our Business, establishing Müller’s reputation as Technical experts.


Key responsibilities:

  • Manage Co-packer customer accounts from a Technical perspective for nominated key retailers and co-packers.
  • Develop and drive retailer Technical Joint Business Plans ensuring links with other MYD areas are in place. E.g. Commercial, Sustainability and cost.
  • Agree performance targets and monitoring/reporting methods between retailers and manufacturing sites.
  • Liaise with other MYD Business Units to ensure consistent approach to customer relationship management (CRM)
  • Work with Central and Site teams to ensure audit and document compliance.
  • Organise and attend customer panels / sampling sessions, communicating results and required actions.
  • Monitor complaint performance against target and manage / highlight deterioration in performance.
  • Co-ordinate review of new and updated retailer codes of practice ensuring compliance across all sites.
  • Co-ordinate launch of new projects with retailers ensuring key documentation is updated in line with internal and external processes.
  • Project manage specification requirements and support artwork projects whilst prioritizing to meet business and customer expectations
  • Review and approve own brand and customer specifications.
  • Management and delivery of key co-packer and retailer reports ensuring on-going compliance against target. Highlight areas of concern to sites and provide timely updates to customers. Actively review and align routine reports to ensure that they are continuing to add value and propose changes as required.
  • Ensure retailer non compliances are addressed and completed as required. E.g. Audits, micro / chemical out of specs, complaints.
  • Generate, monitor and evaluate external and internal budgets for the function.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues to develop standards and a culture of excellence.
  • Provide retailer lead to the sites to develop understanding and expectations.


Skills & experience:

  • Food science degree or equivalent level of qualification.
  • Food manufacturing background.
  • Experience of managing major retailer technical relationships.
  • Experience of managing co-packer technical relationships.
  • Proven ability to drive change and improvement programs.
  • Working knowledge of micros based and relevant spec systems.

This role is field based and will involve travel within the UK (Midlands and Southern regions) and occasional continental.
