Müller Milk & Ingredients aims to be Britain’s private label dairy leader and produces branded and private label fresh milk, cream, butter and ingredients products. It boasts a network of dairies and depots servicing customers throughout the country.


As result of internal promotion we are currently recruiting for a Senior Commercial Finance Business Partner, in our Milk & Ingredients Finance Department, who will directly business partner Commercial Business Unit Head and take overall responsibility for a cluster of customers, providing financial analysis, guidance on new and existing business metrics, helping the business understand financial performance and challenging performance.  This role will be primarily Droitwich based with the additional flexibility for home working.


Senior Commercial Finance Business Partner - Key responsibilities:


  • Own the detailed budget and forecasting process with the Commercial teams in the customer cluster, collaborating with the Management Account teams
  • Co-ordinate the monthly reporting and forecasting cycle, as required by the business
  • Full ownership of ensuring overall integrity of revenue for cluster of customers, ensuring that accruals are accurately captured and variances are sufficiently investigated and explained
  • Work with Financial Accounting team and Business partner to review, assess and where appropriate sign off the month end accruals position for each customer within cluster every month
  • Challenge and influence the commercial team on customer volume, pricing and DB1 assumptions
  • Own the delivery of the account profitability in partnership with the business unit head. Work with the account teams to drive increased value into the customer account
  • Evaluation and continuous review of customer profitability by product and location
  • Be the number 1 contact for the Business Unit, providing all necessary support and insight to optimise commercial performance.  Also provide escalation point for other BU heads within cluster of customers
  • Have a detailed understanding of the underlying monthly performance of the customer cluster within remit
  • Seek to identify and implement improvements in the Forecasting process and commercial performance review processes
  • Support the Head of Controlling - Commercial in order to achieve the business targets and improve profitability
  • Work across the commercial finance team to ensure that processes are optimised and consistent
  • Key member of the account natural work team, helping review internal and external customer margin, cost drivers and performance vs contract
  • Develop and own delivery of financial workstream on account plans across all customers in cluster
  • Provide business partnering support to buying teams in terms of understanding margin moves and helping to investigate potential mitigation opportunities
  • Management of business partner and business support, including setting objectives, regular 1:1s, half year and full year performance reviews and working with them on development plans
  • Deputise for Head of Controlling - Commercial as required


Senior Commercial Finance Business Partner - Key skills & experience:


  • Recognised Accountancy qualification
  • Proven experience in an FMCG environment
  • Experience in the dairy industry
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills; able to tailor communications to the audience involved
  • Knowledge of the different dairy products: how they relate to each other, quality requirements, pricing structures
  • Recognised Accountancy qualification or
  • Proven experience in an FMCG environment
  • Experience in the dairy industry.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Systems knowledge (Movex/AS400, Access, Cognos, SAP).
