Are you passionate about driver development and training? Join our team as a Driver Trainer at MMID, where you'll play a key role in supporting all areas of driver development and training. Your main tasks will include driver development, DCPC delivery, fuel-efficient driving, driver compliance, and post-accident fault rectification. You'll measure and target improvement against KPIs to ensure our drivers are performing at their best.

 

  • Job Title: Driver Trainer (DT)
  • Location: Glasgow Depot (G32 8EY) - May require traveling to other sites using company vehicles.
  • Contract: Full time, Permanent
  • Shift Pattern: 5 on, 2 off

 

Driver Trainer Main Responsibilities:

  • Promote and deliver driver development, including safe and fuel-efficient driving.
  • Support driver CPC periodic training requirements.
  • Conduct pre-employment driver assessments for both permanent and agency drivers.
  • Deliver new driver induction training and existing driver development training.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and GDPR rules.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate data within the Tachomaster analysis compliance system.
  • Complete post-accident remedial training.
  • Communicate effectively with compliance and transport teams to achieve best practices.
  • Provide driving and driver support when required.

Driver Trainer Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, practical, and written) – presentation skills / classroom training
  • Experience in driver training and instruction.
  • Ability to initiate and manage change.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and prioritize tasks using problem-solving skills.
  • Promote and maintain best practices in legal compliance (e.g. Understanding of EU & Road Transport Working Time Directive driver’s hours’ regulations
  • Flexibility is required to meet the demands of the business and training requirements
  • Safe Driving & Fuel Focus Development training experience
  • Telematics analysis knowledge (Connexus/Tachomaster)
  • Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) delivery experience
  • TUG Shunter operation experience
  • Commercial vehicle knowledge and understanding of various vehicle types
  • Tanker knowledge & experience (as required)

 

Driver Trainer Qualifications Required:

  • Essential Qualifications:
    • LGV Vocational UK Driving Licence C+E
    • Extensive knowledge of EU & RTWTD rules and regulations
    • Experience in training delivery and instruction
    • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence
  • Desirable Qualifications:
    • RTITB NRI DCPC qualification
    • IOSH certified qualification
    • First Aid certification
