We’re Recruiting.. Shift Technical Officer

 

Muller UK and Ireland are currently recruiting for a Shift Technical Officer, this role will be based at the Minsterley site. Shift pattern will be  4 on 4 off on a 2 year fixed-term contract.

Job Purpose:

To ensure the production of safe, legal & specification compliant products from your business unit, responsible for ensuring HACCP is applied & that food safety requirements are met, whilst employing continuous improvement techniques.  Being an advocate for quality standards and leading by example.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Leading by example - ambassador for "Food Safety and Quality Culture" across the site
  • Raising GMP / Hygiene standards in production areas & ensuring compliance to the relevant GMP / Hygiene standards / policies and best practice through internal auditing process
  • Measure compliance to traceability legislation by checking for traceability information on lines and raw materials with accurate retrieval of relevant information
  • Control of stock using SAP, FMS & WMS systems, including managing the hold procedure
  • Carry out and lead investigations, raising appropriate paperwork with team and follow up on corrective actions ensuring root cause established with 100 year fix
  • Internal auditing and participation in Food Safety, BRC & Customer / 3rd Party audits.
  • Carry out necessary checks (environment and equipment) to ensure that all targets (micro, chemical, physical, etc.) are being met
  • Manage sensory analysis process, ensuring full attendance, carry out trend analysis and ensure corrective actions fully closed out or issues escalated.
  • Provide technical support to the R&D process by attending trials and assisting with organoleptic and microbiological assessment.
  • Update and issue quality standards and attributes packs for each product to Line Leaders
  • Sample collection, logging and despatch to 3rd party laboratory
  • All other duties required to deliver an effective Technical Service to the business.

  • Co-operate with the Company, so far as is necessary, to enable the Company to perform or comply with any required or imposed duties imposed under relevant statutory provision

  • Utilise the STAR card system to identify H&S issues or to praise good practice.

 

General responsibilities:

  • To carry out any other duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
  • Actively promote and comply with all Company Policies, Procedures and Values
  • Proactively encourage & drive initiatives in support of continuous improvement, ensuring the company’s internal control structure at all times. 
  • Subject Matter Experts in key accountable areas i.e. sensory, GMP, etc.
  • Working with Others
  • Update of quality KPI's and feedback on issues to other teams in Short Interval Control Meetings
  • Customer complaint investigation, corrective action and drive for reduction in incidents
  • Follow up of non-conformities and sign off of investigations following incidents by working with other disciplines (Process, Engineers and Logistics) to minimise non-conformances and assist in problem solving
  • Management and control of concessions - review, trend and reduce
  • Support the Quality Control Manager in the effective training of factory personnel in all food safety protocols and monitoring / auditing actions

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills – ability to deal with people at all levels, internally and externally, with the credibility to make a significant impact within the business.
  • Experience in a food safety related environment
  • Auditing experience
  • Open-minded approach to flexible/shift working
  • Attention to detail and a tenacious approach to resolving issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of SAP, FMS & WMS
  • Working knowledge of HACCP

 

Qualifications:

Level 3 food safety

Internal auditor

Experience of high care food manufacturing

Level 3 HACCP
