Purpose

 

To enable site to be compliant to 45001 contractor controls ensuring that all site contractors have provided suitable and sufficient rams, are conducted and audited during works.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The permit coordinator shall ensure contractors entering our site will go through the following process:

 

  • Receive a thorough site induction
  • Ensure sign off is completed and records of induction and filed in a logical manner
  • Establish a folder for each site contractor and store and up-date all records required to be kept
  • Ensure contractors adhere to our induction policy during regular site checks ensuring our health, safety and environmental and hygiene policies are followed.
  • The permit coordinator shall receive all contractor Risk Assessment and Method statements and read through to ensure a correct risk assessment has been carried out and they will also work through the method statement to ensure that any issues relating to health and safety, food safety or operational efficiency have been highlighted where applicable or escalated to the operations team.
  • Rams should be received in advance to any contractor entering the site to allow sufficient time for permits to be written and all safety aspects taken into account.
  • If rams have not been received the permit coordinator will work with each contractor and job controller on a case by case basis, however in no satisfactory rams can be written the contractor will no be allowed to attend site.

 

The permit coordinator will be responsible for issuing the following after a complete risk assessment and Method statement have been received:

 

  • Contractors authorisation
  • Additional permits to work.
  • The permit coordinator shall ensure all contractors are working in accordance to their supplied risk assessment and method statement.
  • Regular checks MUST take place throughout the day ensuring the stated control measures are in place and being followed as prescribed, and contractor feedback sheets used to ensure all contractors are adhering to our safety procedures on site and adding to the continual improvement of our standards on site.
  • This will involve regular checks of all contractors onsite by doing walk arounds and physically inspecting work being carried out.
  • All contractors must be audited in conjunction with the Muller Control of contractors policy
  • The permit coordinator will be responsible for carrying out checks on all contractors tools ensuring they are complying with our policy.
  • All work being carries out must be checked against our food safety standards and must ensure we are audit ready at all times and you are responsible for ensuring no audit non-conformances are gained at any point.
  • The permit coordinator will be responsible for ensuring contractors and the site are compliant at all times throughout any contractors visits.
  • Will ensure that each contractor that works on site will have a folder where all documentation will be kept
  • Carry out other duties such as risk assessment reviews and safe systems of work reviews
  • Assist with audits both internal and external
  • Safe contractor documentation review.

 

Skills and Experience:

 

  • Significant experience with contractor control
  • Good health and safety grounding and be able to review risk assessments
  • Organised and people focused
  • Auditing skills
  • Permit Trained (Training will be given)
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
  • Word and Excel knowledge

  • Must be Permit Trained
