We are currently recruiting a Electrical and Automation Support Engineer to join our Severnside Blowmoulding Team. The successful candidate will deliver cost effective maintenance activities to site assets in line with annual maintenance plan and situation demands. You will actively seek and implement new improvement methods to increase reliability and support Maintenance Excellence road-map implementation, as well as develop systems and people to improve site Automation infrastructure and performance. 


In this role the key responsibilities will include:


  • Be proactive and responsive in attending breakdowns to both plant and equipment in such a manner which meets the day-to-day needs of the production department – First point of contact
  • Build strong awareness of departmental needs thereby maximising production output and ensuring the smooth flow of the operation
  • Prioritise, through consultation with Production and Engineering Manager, the order of own workload, taking into account factory needs
  • Ensure both group and individual objectives are positively progressed in line with the Muller Maintenance Strategy, and positively contribute to site initiatives as requested
  • Work with the factory planned maintenance system to both develop and complete planned maintenance routines whilst constantly monitoring the effectiveness of the system
  • Raise purchase order requisitions for spare parts as required, and liaise with the Engineering Services to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained and complying with budgetary constraints and administrative systems
  • Provide expertise in Electrical, Mechanical and Pneumatic control systems ensuring efficient plant operation
  • Maintenance tasks will also be undertaken as time and production allow
  • Direct point of contact will be the Engineering Manager whilst ensuring a close working partnership with the production teams
  • Ensure that the right product is produced at the right time at the desired quality
  • Have the flexibility to work extended hours and provide out of hours support to ensure production and supply lines are running normally
  • Produce detailed technical documentation for purchasing, training and automation policies
  • Coaching and mentoring of maintenance team members to develop their automation and electrical capabilities
  • Implement performance improvement projects as identified by the Engineering Manager & Site teams
  • Manage small projects as per the site plan and in conjunction with the Engineering Manager or appointed Project Lead
  • To undertake automation projects or part projects from initial conception to completion
  • Administer and archive automation software to ensure successful replacement of all automation systems
  • Provide the link between Site Engineering Team and MMI Automation Team with respect to maintenance and development of Group Automation standards
  • Maintain all automation records and documentation
  • Produce detailed "how to" guides/one point lessons to support maintenance team with common or recurring automation tasks
  • Develop robust and cost effective planned maintenance regime for automation equipment
  • Work with MMI Central Automation Team to continually improve the site system software and hardware structure and design
  • Support the site excellence roadmaps for Quality/H&S/Environmental/Engineering/ Autonomous Maintenance
  • Compliance with Group Electrical and Automation standards of site delivered projects and general improvement works



Key skills & experience:


  • Educated in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to fault find within electrical panels. (Essential)
  • Ability to communication technical information to non-technical audiences. (Essential)
  • Proficient with Microsoft products. (Essential)
  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship
  • PLC programming knowledge in Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley , Scada systems would be advantageous
  • Experience working with RSLogix (Desirable)
  • Experience of SERVO systems in relation to FMCG machinery (Desirable)
  • Understanding of industrial Networking and developing INTOUCH applications
  • Food Hygiene/Health & Safety Certificate (Desirable)
  • Completion of a multi skilled training program
  • Proven ability to actively apply skills in a safe and effective manner
  • Ability to develop an excellent technical knowledge of the plant
  • Relevant Blow Moulding experience (Desirable)
  • A logical fault finding approach to breakdowns and problem solving
  • Recognised apprenticeship.
  • ONC.
  • HNC.
