We’re recruiting … Dairy Scheduler

 

We are currently recruiting at our Severnside Dairy for Dairy Scheduler.

 

The successful candidate will create accurate and timely daily production schedules that optimize production efficiencies and product losses whist delivering perfect service and managing finished product stocks and life to avoid short code generation. They will also support the one-plan capability review process and step up for the Planning Lead. The scope of the role includes all Dairy Drinks both branded and private labels, and Packet Butter as well as scheduling the creamery.

 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Create accurate & timely daily production schedules resulting in efficient utilisation of assets, supporting zero shorts and zero short code and minimising in process and finished product wastage.
  • Adherence to the agreed stock policies. Seek authority to proposed deviations to the standard stock policy.
  • Adapt to changes in demand and supply and highlight any potential issues relating to production output.
  • Update the daily dash board (stock, production, sales).
  • Provide clarity of required mixing requirements as well as filling line schedules.
  • Provide the necessary input to raw milk planning and co-ordinate with the Creamery to maximise usage of ROM, and to Ingredients for cream requirements.
  • Act as the site’s point of contact throughout day.
  • System updates as orders are confirmed, rebalance back to original plan where possible and highlight any operational changes caused by plan variance.
  • Be prepared to run multiple scenarios during promotional peaks and/or product phase in and phase out.
  • Maintain master data as required.
  • Manage the day relationship with third party manufacturers.
  • Investigate any shortages, highlighting responsibility & follow up where appropriate for RCA.
  • Make recommendations to daily fluctuations and plan changes / break downs to ensure excellent, cost effective service is maintained.
  • Highlight to demand team products of significant variance and trends.
  • Liaise with materials planning teams for ingredients and materials to ensure all is available to support production plan.
  • Work with demand planning and commercial to manage short code and service risks.
  • Succession planning – deputise for Dairy Drinks and Ingredients Supply Planner.
  • Support the transition to new IT planning systems.
  • Support the transition to the new organisation.
  • Contribute to, Support & deliver Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Support  daily/weekly review calls/meetings with site teams to track adherence to plan and implement corrective actions as agreed. Produces a long term production plan to inform raw material and ingredients planning for materials planning.
  • Manage product change effectively, implementing changes approved via the PEP process to manage change e.g.. delists and NPD launches to minimise waste and ensure appropriate service.
  • Provide input to the most cost efficient means of supporting the network for planned and unplanned capacity events e.g. site maintenance or breakdowns.
  • Provide input to assist with ‘optimisation of the schedule’ taking an end-to-end approach.

Key skills & experience

  • Supply Chain Experience (Essential)
  • Previous experience of working in cross-functional teams (Essential)
  • Strong numeric and verbal reasoning (essential)
  • Good level of education (desired)
  • Experience of MRP and ERP systems (desired)
  • Demonstrable business acumen
  • Demonstrable ability to solve complex problems and to “think out of the box”
  • Demonstrable ability to engage and influence a broad spectrum of colleagues across hierarchies
