We are currently looking to recruit an Electrical & Automation Support Engineer to join our Severnside Blowmoulding within our Müller Milk & Ingredients business.
Contract: Full Time/Permanent
Salary: Competitive
Monday to Friday: 8am – 4pm
Location: Severnside Dairy – GL10 2DG
This is a key site-based role focused on delivering cost-effective maintenance activity, improving asset reliability and supporting the continued development of the site’s automation infrastructure. The successful candidate will support maintenance delivery in line with the annual maintenance plan and operational demands, while actively identifying and implementing improvement methods to increase reliability. You will also support the Maintenance Excellence roadmap and help develop systems and people to improve automation performance across the site.
Electrical & Automation Support Engineer key responsibilities will include:
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering, facilities and site roadmap activity, supporting Quality, Health & Safety, EMS, Engineering and Autonomous Maintenance objectives.
- Provide specialist electrical and automation support for reactive issues, structured problem solving, improvement initiatives and operational excellence activity.
- Support minor automation Capex projects and wider site projects with automation elements, ensuring alignment with ADE/ADM requirements and group standards.
- Work closely with central Automation Development teams to maintain site automation standards, software documentation, version control and compliance.
- Own and support site obsolescence and improvement plans, including controls, panel risk assessments, health checks and remedial actions.
- Use performance and site data to identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, quality, reliability and operability.
- Support, coach and train colleagues to develop automation knowledge while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety for self and others.
Systems and technical scope:
- PLC programming knowledge across Siemens S7 and Allen-Bradley platforms.
- SCADA systems and INTOUCH application development.
- Industrial networking and automation infrastructure.
- Electrical panels, controls and breakdown fault-finding.
- Software documentation, version control and compliance standards.
- Automation health checks, panel risk assessments and obsolescence planning.
What we’re looking for from our next Electrical & Automation Support Engineer:
- Educated in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, ideally with completion of a recognised apprenticeship.
- Completion of a multi-skilled training programme would be advantageous.
- Strong ability to fault-find within electrical panels and during breakdown situations.
- PLC programming knowledge in Siemens S7 and Allen-Bradley, with SCADA systems experience.
- Understanding of industrial networking and the ability to develop INTOUCH applications.
- Proficient with Microsoft products and confident using data to support improvement activity.
- Able to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to actively apply engineering skills in a safe, effective and improvement-focused manner.
