We are currently recruiting within our Blow Moulding function for an Engineering Manager to join the team at our Manchester site. The successful candidate will Lead Blow Moulding Engineering to deliver a best in class Engineering and Technical service, supporting the safe delivery and improvement within manufacturing. Provide effective leadership with strategic implementation of a cost effective plant/equipment reliability, covering statutory and mandatory compliance .

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Lead Blow Mould Engineering team in delivering value add, cost effective engineering performance, with appropriate direction and site support
  • Ensure Engineering team operate fully within Health & Safety compliance standards
  • Provide guidance/support of team performance with coaching/mentoring & motivating.
  • Effective communication through team of engineering, site and group objectives
  • Management / direction of contractors and suppliers                                                                              
  • Ownership of the Muller Engineering Excellence improvement roadmap for the site
  • Prioritisation, implementation of blow mould efficiency improvements, continuous          improvement projects, capex project prioritisation with budgetary implementation               
  • Management of site Engineering budget (controls on spend and overheads)                                                                                     
  • Delivery on time in full of Continuous Improvement projects to support performance                                                                                      
  • Team Operation meets Health and Safety, risk assessments and safe systems of work                                                                                                     
  • Development and management of an effective planned, preventative, reactive and remedial maintenance system including CMMS                                                  
  • Develop a culture of effective preventative maintenance with a view to improving asset reliability and reducing reactive costs                                                                                                     
  • Machine / Equipment availability to meet manufacturing performance targets                                                                                                    
  • Coordination and direction of team workload to meet business needs                                                                                                  
  • Drive prompt recognition and corrective actions for underperforming areas                                                                                                      
  • Deliver on Engineering Excellence strategy and improvements
  • Full compliance of Engineering to meet Muller Health and Safety Standards, following safe operating procedures, systems and permits to work
  • Responsibility in ensuring Engineering teams operates fully within business accreditation standards covering areas of BRC and ISO                                
  • Support Site Audits in delivering (maintaining) BRC and ISO accreditation standards                                                                                           

 

 

Skills and Experience:

 

  • Time Served Engineer/graduate HNC qualified
  • IOSH Managing Safely                
  • Lean/continuous improvement methods                      
  • 5 years post apprenticeship experience in Engineering role                                    
  • Leadership experience                                     
  • FMCG background and exposure                                   
  • Knowledge of CMMS controls                                          
  • Engineering compliance/legislation knowledge
