Our Apprenticeship Program will see you based at our Müller Milk & Ingredients site in Manchester, and provides you with a fantastic way to realise your potential and get your career with us off to the best possible start. Bringing learning and earning together, not only will you study towards a nationally-recognised qualification, you’ll earn a good salary, develop new skills and gain invaluable knowledge and experience.

 

Your apprenticeship combines technical skills training, academic study and work-based learning using one of the industry’s most popular apprenticeship standards; the Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer apprenticeship. This apprenticeship covers all of the fundamental Engineering topics such as:

  • Electrical principles and maintenance
  • Mechanical maintenance to keep our factories running efficiently
  • Basic welding and machining skills
  • Automation
  • Application of Engineering principles in the Food & Drinks industry

 

This programme of learning has been created by some of the most well known Food & Drink companies in partnership with some of the best Engineering training providers, and therefore has a really strong support network behind it ensuring it’s ongoing success. So you can be confident that you’ll be joining a highly regarded apprenticeship programme. 

 

You will also need to impress us with your desire to learn and your ability to take the lead and make your career ambitions for the future a reality.

 

Your challenge

 In this role the key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Asset Management: maintenance of Manufacturing machinery and manage process, filling/packing, and cleaning plant operations in accordance with procedures and Health & Safety
  • Involvement in Continuous Improvement projects, project management and tests and trial activities
  • Fault finding and timely corrective action in line with food safety standards
  • Being part of a team striving to achieve the highest quality products, highlighting any concerns and ensuring products and volumes are in accordance with specifications and targets

 

Key skills & experience:

  • GCSE English & Maths at grade C (level 4) or equivalent
  • GCSE in science at grade C (level 4) or equivalent would be desirable but not essential
  • Able to demonstrate a clear passion for Engineering
  • Great attention to detail
  • Good time management skills
  • The ability to analyse problems and suggest improvements/solutions
  • Able to take a proactive approach
  • Ability to take ownership of own work
  • Demonstrates a self-motivated and proactive approach to work and studies
  • Able to demonstrate good team working skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • You’ll also need to be flexible with your hours of work when required

 

 

This is an excellent opportunity to learn within of one of the fastest-paced industries there is. But make no mistake, this is no easy option and our limited places will be filled by people who are clearly able to demonstrate they are ready to take a pro-active approach towards their own personal and professional development.
