Müller Milk & Ingredients aims to be Britain’s private label dairy leader and produces branded and private label fresh milk, cream, butter and ingredients products. It boasts a network of dairies and depots servicing customers throughout the country.  We are recruiting for an Engineering Apprentice to start in September 2021 for our Müller Milk and Ingredients BlowMoulding business in Manchester.   Whilst you will be based at our Manchester site there will be additional blocks of college based learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintenance tasks of plant and equipment, offering opinions and solutions to your teams
  • To be aware of company & College health and safety requirements and follow all safety instructions given
  • Assist your appointed teams in the routine inspections of related equipment and tools. Carry out maintenance of these items to plan as directed.
  • Undertake any course of instruction necessary to obtain or maintain the required skills levels.
  • Attend College when required, conducting yourself professionally and in line with Müller/educational provider policies and procedures
  • Efficient use of time to complete training and daily duties, appropriate use of tools and equipment at College and within the MMI sites
  • To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time and which are appropriate to a job of the same or lower grading and within the competence of the employee
  • Supporting the delivery of key Operations/Engineering initiatives
  • Supporting the Engineering teams in daily activities
  • Identify & gain the core skills required to maintain our plant & equipment on site to a high standard


Your challenge

  • Level 3 Trailblazer Apprenticeship in Engineering (current course and provider confirmed during recruitment process)
  • Flexibility to work in all areas of the Engineering/production department
  • Adopting a “can do” “will do”, proactive attitude to work
  • Ensuring production priorities are identified and catered for
  • Initiating action against problems identified
  • Assisting in the compliance of a disciplined & structured work approach


Key skills & experience:

  • GCSE English & Maths at grade C (level 4) or equivalent - desirable
  • GCSE in science at grade C (level 4) or equivalent would be desirable but not essential
  • Able to demonstrate a clear passion for Engineering
  • Great attention to detail
  • Good time management skills
  • The ability to analyse problems and suggest improvements/solutions
  • Able to take a proactive approach
  • Ability to take ownership of own work
  • Demonstrates a self-motivated and proactive approach to work and studies
  • Able to demonstrate good team working skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment


This is an excellent opportunity to learn within of one of the fastest-paced industries there is. But make no mistake, this is no easy option and the position will be filled by someoby who is clearly able to demonstrate they are ready to take a pro-active approach towards their own personal and professional development.
